About the Artist

Ashley Cora Moffatt is a mostly self taught artist from Allen, Texas. From childhood to adulthood, Ashley has been passionate about art as long as she can remember. She received six awards and honorable mentions out of the thirteen art shows she participated in as a teen; including winning a fourth division award at the State Visual Arts Scholastic Event (VASE) contest in 2015. Since graduating high school in 2017, Ashley’s artwork was featured on the cover of the International Double Reed Society’s Journal, “The Double Reed”, in 2020. In early 2022, she graduated from The University of Southern Mississippi with her Bachelor of Music Education (Instrumental Pedagogy). After graduation, she’s been chasing her dreams of becoming a professional artist while trying to find her way in this world.

Another passion of Ashley’s is music. As a child she loved to sing, play piano, and the guitar. Once she reached sixth grade band, she immediately identified as a flutist, then after learning what an oboe was, Ashley fell in love again. Soon after, her passion for band grew, and she came to enjoy the English horn, orchestral playing, and performing with school opera productions as well. Ashley also loved learning other instruments- marching with the alto saxophone then clarinet in marching band. During her senior year in 2017 she won second place English hornist overall in the state of Texas TMEA (Texas Music Educators Association) competition. Her collegiate years afterward at USM brought her many more opportunities to perform and expand her knowledge and skills regarding music.

Ashley’s artwork is her personality on a page. She can express with a brush what her words cannot say. Her work is her heart, featuring her love for music, others, music, color, animals, and more. Her dream is to become a full time artist who both shares her own art, and helps others’ visions come to life.
